Nura Solar Power Plant (Kazakhstan)

Nura SPP is one of the largest solar power plants in Kazakhstan and the CIS

Nura SPP (meaning "light" or "sunbeam" in Kazakh) was comissionned on May 29, 2020 in Kazakhstan, Akmola Region. The project was implemented with the support of the Eurasian Development Bank. Nura SPP forecasted annual output (или yield) will be 150 million kWh, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 79,500 tons and will make a significant contribution to achieving the country's goal of generating 50% of electricity from renewable energy by 2050.

Nura SPP was Hevel Group first foreign end-to-end project implemented using Russian equipment. The power plant covers an area of 300 hectares and consists of 268,000 solar modules. Bifacial heterojunction Hevel solar modules featuring high efficiency  (about 23.5% per cell) and  low temperature coefficient (-0.31 %/C°) were utilized to implement the project. Both of these parameters provide the largest power generation (up to 25%) in areas with high temperatures.

The Nura SPP is the largest in Hevel Group portfolio of completed projects and was our first experience working abroad. Despite extreme weather conditions, the power plant was constructed in record time — within 6 months. All of the electricity will be supplied to the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan, raising quality and improving the power infrastructure of Akmola Region," Igor Shakhrai, Hevel Group CEO, said.

The company's project pipeline in Kazakhstan includes Sarybulak SPP (4.95 MW), Kapshagai SPP (3 MW), Kushata SPP (10 MW) and Shoktas SPP (50 MW), which were acquired in 2019, as well as a solar power plants in Kentau and Shymkent with a total capacity of 70 MW, which were awarded to Hevel in 2018 as a result of the solar auction. The Hevel Group total solar projects pipeline in Kazakhstan is of 238 MW.
